

Jimmy, born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, was a long-time resident of the Island and was a proud member of the "Greatest Generation" having served in the Army during WWII. He enlisted the day after Pearl Harbor and served 44 months overseas. He was awarded eight battle stars, plus several other medals and commendations. He has been a member of the American Legion Post 166 since 1953, Post Commander in '64, and also a District Vice Commander in '65. He was the oldest living Post Commander. He was a Life Member of the VFW, Disabled American Veterans, and the American Legion.
He was employed by Standard Distributors for 25 years, receiving many sales accolades and awards. In retirement he was employed at the Sea Island Golf Course as a starter for 22 years. Jimmy was in his element as he greeted and befriended many guests from all over the world.
He was predeceased by his loving wife of 55 years, Lillian Seaver, son-in-law, Gib McNeely, daughter-in-law, Judy Ellington, brother, Robert Reardon, and sister, Evelyn Salch.
Jimmy is survived by a son, Mike Seaver and his wife, Valerie, of East Haddam, CT, step-son, Tom Ellington and step-daughter, Joyce McNeely, of St. Simons. He was affectionately known as "GG" to his grandchildren, Michael Mower, Nancy Warner, Alyson Seaver, Todd Seaver, Robin Ephraim, Jan Reed, and Michael and Niall Lacy. Also included are great-grandchildren Meghan Bennor, Joe Bennor, and William Warner. He is also survived by a brother, John Reardon in Buffalo, New York.
For more than a half-century, Jimmy was a loyal member of St. Simons United Methodist Church. He will be missed by his very special friends in the McDonald's morning coffee club.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, February 26, 2011 in the Chapel of the St. Simons United Methodist Church with the Rev. Benjy Varnell officiating. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of American Legion Post 166. A reception will follow.
