James K. Leahy

James Kane Leahy Sr., 97, St. Simons Island, Georgia died December 12, 2011 at Marshes Edge. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11AM Wednesday, December 14, 2011at St. William Catholic Church, St. Simons Island. Entombment will be at 11AM Friday, December 16, 2011 at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Pensacola, FL.

Born May 3, 1914 in Brockton, Massachusetts to the late Margaret and James P. Leahy, he grew up on the Atlantic shore where he loved the sea and honed his sailing skills. He lived his final year on St Simons Island which he dearly loved, once again at home near the sea. He was a graduate of Brown University and retired executive from the Chemical Division of E.I. DuPont & Co. with 38 years of service. A loving husband and father, he was also devoted to his Catholic faith. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Mary Coman Leahy, and son James K. Leahy Jr. who died earlier this year.

Survivors include a son and daughter in law David H. and Carol Leahy of Brunswick, GA and daughter in law Janice Leahy of Bedford, TX.
