James Stewart Orr

Jimmy was born in Laurens, SC on November 28 to the late Henry Orr and Dorothy Graham Orr. He received his Bachelor of Education Degree, Master’s Degree, and Educational Specialist degree from Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Georgia. He enjoyed a 37 year tenure in the education field.

Jimmy had been a resident of St. Simons Island for 25 years. He was a member of St. Simons United Methodist Church where he served as an usher for many years. He enjoyed volunteering at Manna House and was a faithful member of Men’s Morning Out. He was also a member of several social clubs including Coasters and Beachcombers.

Jimmy was an avid fly fisherman and hunter. He never met a stranger and had a story to relate on most occasions usually accompanied by his pictures. He enjoyed traveling—not only to faraway places but also the Georgia and North Carolina mountains.

Jimmy is survived by his wife, Barbara, loving family members, and wonderful friends and neighbors.

Inurnment was at the Columbarium at Christ Church, Frederica.

A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
