
James Rhodes Rogers, 81, passed away at UF Health Shands in Jacksonville, Florida on Friday January 2, 2026. He was born on October 2, 1944, in Cartersville, Georgia to Griffin Hobson Rogers and Edna Rhodes Rogers.
Pre-deceased by his parents Griffin Hobson Rogers and Edna Rhodes Rogers.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Janet Northington Rogers of Darien, his brothers Griffin Lawrence Rogers of Fitzgerald and Robert Anderson Rogers (Marsha) of Darien, his daughter, Jennifer Rogers Lewis, (David) of St. Simons Island, his son, James Dennard Rogers (Cindy) of Tampa, Florida, his grandchildren: Macey Rogers O’Quendo (Hector), David Parker Lewis, Jr. (Caroline), William Dennard Lewis, Laura Anne Lewis, and Patricia Anne Rogers; Great granddaughter: Lucy May O’Quendo.
A native of Darien Georgia, Jimmy graduated from Glynn Academy in 1962 and graduated from University of Georgia, Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources in 1967. Following graduation, he proudly served his country for three years in the United States Army with one tour in Vietnam. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Brunswick for many years. He has been a member of Darien United Methodist Church for the past eight years where he was a co -chairmen for the United Methodist Men’s group and volunteered with the Boaz Project, local food distribution.
Jimmy worked for Georgia Power for thirty-four years. After retirement he was a member of the Georgia Power Ambassadors serving as a local president, and on the state board of directors. Jimmy was also an active member of the American Legion, Post 166 on St. Simons Island.
Visitation will be Sunday January 4th 2026 at Darien United Methodist Church from 2pm to 3pm with the funeral service following.
