A native of Albany, Georgia, Jane moved with her family to Brunswick, Georgia at an early age. She was born June 23, 1939 to the late Robert Charles Cook and the late Claire O’Neal Cook. Jane was a 1957 graduate of Glynn Academy. Upon graduation, she enrolled and attended Perry Business College and the Nancy Taylor Modeling School from which she graduated. Jane had a sixteen year military career with the Coast Guard and the Air National Guard Squadrons 224th and 265th. She had a 21 year career with the University of Georgia Marine Institute on Sapelo Island in the accounting department. Jane also had her own ceramic business, Ceramics by Jane. She was a member and attended Arco Methodist Church and the First Presbyterian Church. She will be remembered as a loving mother and a beloved child of God.
In addition to her parents, Jane was preceded in death by her daughter Linda Gayle Slemons, son Robby Woods, sister Bobbie Claire Mock and brother Charles D. Cook.
Jane is survived by her two daughters Carrol-Anne Raborn and Laura Cook Strickland; two grandsons Christopher Raborn and Kenneth Strickland; three great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephew.
The family will receive friends Friday, September 21, 2018 from 6:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home in Brunswick, Georgia.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at Brunswick Memorial Park Cemetery with family and friends speaking.
In lieu of customary remembrances the family request memorial contributions be made to Alzheimer’s of Glynn/Brunswick, 3011 Hampton Avenue, Ste. 340 Brunswick, Georgia 31520.
