Jerry Sapp, 79, of Darien, departed this life Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at SGHS Glynn. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10 AM Saturday, May 26, 2018 at St. Andrews Cemetery in Darien with Rev. Jack Peeler officiating. Members of UA Local 177 will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Born September 9, 1938 in Metter, Georgia to the late Robert H. and Ruby Lee J. Sapp, he was a graduate of Metter High School Class of 1956. He was a former member of the Georgia Air National Guard and Georgia National Guard. Mr. Sapp was a retired pipefitter and instrument technician. He was a member of UA Local 177, and had been a resident of McIntosh County since 1960. He was also a member Live Oak Masonic Lodge 137. He was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed fishing and travel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Ricky Sapp, a brother, James H. Rogers, and a sister, Irma Greene.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years Janice H. Sapp of Darien, a daughter, Lynne S. Knorr and husband Jon of Darien, five grandchildren, Sharee Copeland (Mike), Stormye Brantley (Chad), Chelsie Sapp (Jimmy), Rachel Kopp, and Nicholas Kopp, three great grandchildren, Camryn, Avery, and Emily, three sisters, Colleen Finch of Monks Corner, SC, Linda Assad of NC, Janice Sapp of Collins, GA, several nieces and nephews.
