Jimmie Lankford Meeks always said he was ready to meet his Lord, and on Friday the 13th, 2026, he did just that.
Born on April 8, 1961, to Jimmie Roger Meeks and Evelyn G. Meeks, Jimmie was a man of deep faith, steady strength, and quiet conviction. Though he was a private man, when he spoke, he was heard. His words carried weight, and his presence brought comfort to those around him.
For 39 years, he was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Elisha Meeks. Together they built a life rooted in love, loyalty, and faith, raising two daughters, Jessica Meeks and Amanda Pickren (Justin), all of Hortense, Georgia.
His greatest joy was being called “Papa” by his five grandchildren: Kira Meeks, Joclyn Meeks, Jimmie Meeks, JP Pickren, and Lyra Pickren. He cherished each of them deeply and took pride in every moment they shared.
Jimmie loved fishing and found peace near the water. He enjoyed playing pool on his iPad, always ready for a game. More than anything, he loved gathering people together. It didn’t matter the occasion — birthday, holiday, or no reason at all — he would throw a party. He simply loved having friends and family fill his home with laughter, food, and fellowship.
Many nights, he would quietly pick on his dad’s guitar, and before long, it would feel like a concert in the room. Those evenings, listening to him play, became treasured memories. In his own quiet way, he shared his heart through music.
Jimmie also had a very special best friend — his dog, Gatr (without the “o”). From the moment he locked eyes with that puppy, there was a connection. Gatr grew into his 100-pound buddy, and Jimmie was proud of him. He would show pictures of Gatr to anyone who would look, talking about him with a smile. Jimmie loved Gatr, and Gatr loved him right back. Their bond was undeniable and brought him great joy.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jimmie Roger Meeks; his mother, Evelyn Meeks Nazzrie; and his brother, Brian L. Meeks.
In addition to his wife, daughters, and grandchildren, he leaves behind his brother, Dewayne E. Meeks (Sarah) of Douglas; his sister, Evelyn J. Clark (Randy) of Brunswick; along with many extended family members and dear friends who will miss him deeply.
Though his family’s hearts are heavy, they find comfort in knowing he was ready to meet his Lord. His faith was strong, his love was steady, and his legacy will live on in the family he cherished and the memories he leaves behind.
Jimmie will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
