
Joanne Dorman Reid, 86 of St. Simons Island, Georgia, died peacefully at her home on Friday, November 19th. She was born in Greenwood, MS. on January 7, 1924. She is the daughter of Roman Dorman and Louise Ardell Dorman. Mrs. Reid was kind, soft spoken, and the essence of a true southern belle. She attended North Fulton High School in Atlanta. She worked as a bridal consultant for Rich’s, a realtor for Harry Norman & Associates and had a catering business on Saint Simons. Joanne and her husband Henry lived in Boston, New York, Honolulu and Circleville, Ohio. They returned to Atlanta in 1954. She was a devoted member of St. Simons Presbyterian Church. She is preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Henry Lamar Reid Jr. and daughter Louise Reid Lyons.
Mrs. Reid is survived by her brother RB Dorman of Alpharetta, GA; sister Betty McGee of Lookout Mountain, TN; children, Lynn Reid Whorley of Charlotte, NC; Henry L. Reid, III, and daughter-in-law Lori of Dayton, TN; Scott Andrew Reid and daughter-in-law Ann of Clermont, GA; and Allyson Reid Blackshear and son-in-law Dee of St. Simons Island, GA; ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 22st at 11:00 am at the St. Simons Presbyterian Church.
