John was born April 15, 1952, in Douglas, GA, to the late Lewis Charlton Adams and Estelle Nipper Adams of Douglas, GA.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Poppell Adams; son, Greg Dowling; daughter, April Sailors; stepson, Clifford G. Brockman III, all of Brunswick; stepdaughter, Becky Walker of Strafford, MO; brother, Nathanel Adams of Jesup; nephew, Lewis Anderson Sr. of Waverly; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and other loving family members.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sara Adams; her mother, Dorri Adams; brothers, L.C. Adams and J.D. Adams; and sisters, Louise, Jessie Lee, Ruth, Debra, and Gertrude Adams.
John’s greatest joy in life was his family and church family. He was an excellent deer and fox hunter and shared his hunting days at the C.C. Hunting Club.
Those who knew John will remember his many talents. John was a faithful friend and dad to those who needed his skills in electrical, mechanical, carpentry, and welding. He was always ready to lend a helping hand at church.
He was a member of the Darien Church of God.
The service will be officiated by Pastor J.T. Whaley and Reverend Jimmy Walden.
Visitation will be held at the Darien Church of God on September 17, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Brunswick.
