

Kevin was born March 18, 1942 in Kingston, NY son of the late Edmund T. and Julia M. Cloonan. After high school Kevin attended Manhattan College where he received a Bachelors in Civil Engineering and a Masters degree in Business Administration. Kevin also earned his Professional Engineer designation and was a member of the American Water Works Association. He served the City of New York for more than 36 years including District Engineer for the Delaware Watershed in the Catskill Mountain area of upstate New York and represented New York City on several Federal and State environmental commissions.
Kevin was an active member of St. Francis Xavier Church in Brunswick and had formerly served as an Eucharistic Minister at Immaculate Conception Church in Grahamsville, NY which was his home for many years. During his time in Jekyll Island Kevin was a member of The Friends of Historic Jekyll Island. He was also a longtime volunteer with the International Seafarers' Center in Brunswick which provides comfort and hospitality for visiting seafarers.
Kevin loved his golf and the comradeship of the Jekyll Island Men's Golf League. Many hours and numerous stories were shared around the links on Jekyll. He genuinely appreciated the companionship and hospitality of his good friends, neighbors and church companions.
Kevin was predeceased by his wife Kathryn Meyer Cloonan. He is survived by his son Jeffrey Cloonan and wife Amanda of Eagle, Colorado; his son Daniel Cloonan also of Colorado; brothers William Cloonan and wife Kathleen of Kingston, NY and Robert Cloonan and wife Barbara of West Hartford, CT. In addition, Kevin is survived by grandsons, Colton and Jason; granddaughter Addison and great granddaughter Chavi as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Memorial Service will be held on November 10, 2018 at 1:00 pm at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church on Jekyll Island. There will be a mass by Father Tim followed by a reception. For further information please email Jeffrey Cloonan at [email protected]
