John Scott Davenport

John Scott Davenport, 66, of St. Simons Island, departed this life Sunday, January 6, 2019 at his residence. Memorial services will be held at 4PM Monday, January 14, 2019 in the chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. Born November 20, 1952 in Marietta, Georgia to the late Lee Fleming Davenport Sr. and Sue Virginia S. Davenport, he moved to St. Simons Island in 1990. Mr. Davenport had worked for Sea Island and other local resorts and was currently employed by Winn Dixie on St. Simons. He enjoyed helping others, and caring for his feline companions. He attended Darien United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Scott Davenport. Survivors include his daughter, Ruby Ann Davenport of Marietta, two sisters, Melanie Boyer of Louisville, KY, and Julia Thurman (John) of Pickens, SC, a brother, Lee F. Davenport, Jr. (Emily) of St. Simons Island, and several nephews. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home.     In addition to his parents, Lee Fleming Davenport Sr. and Sue Virginia S. Davenport he was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Scott Davenport.
