

He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 39 years, Elizabeth “Bunny” Seckinger Garcia; his children, John Todd Garcia, Jr. and his wife, Sara Shahmiri Garcia, of Franklin Lakes, New Jersey, and Patrick Andrew Garcia and his fiancée, Savanah M. Matin, of Marietta, Georgia; and his beloved Golden Retrievers, Miss Georgia and Buck.
He is also survived by his granddaughter, Lily June Garcia, of Franklin Lakes, New Jersey; his brother, James Michael Garcia and his wife, Michelle Garcia, of Leander, Texas; his nieces, Amanda Rowe of Keller, Texas, Emily Camacho of Austin, Texas, and Renee Fitlin of High Point, North Carolina; his nephew, Adam Carbery Garcia of Oviedo, Florida; and their respective spouses and children. He is further survived by his brother-in-law, Scott Seckinger, and his wife, Ashlyn Sledge Anderson Seckinger, of St. Marys, Georgia; and his niece, Sara Charles Seckinger, of Washington, D.C.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lieutenant Colonel Santiago Acebo Garcia (Ret. USA) and Mary Todd Willingham Garcia of New Orleans, Louisiana; his brother, Robert Beck Garcia, of Acworth, Georgia; and his wife's parents, Malcolm Earl Seckinger and Elizabeth "Betty" Snyder Seckinger, of Brunswick, Georgia.
Mr. Garcia was a 1977 graduate of Columbus High School in Columbus, Georgia, a 1981 graduate of the University of Georgia, and a 1984 graduate of the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University.
Following graduation from law school, he clerked for Judge Joseph Jackson in LaGrange, Georgia, before beginning a distinguished career as a state and federal prosecutor serving in Douglasville, Savannah, and Augusta, Georgia. He later operated his own law practice from 2002 until his passing.
Mr. Garcia was a mentor and role model to numerous young men through his volunteer work with the Georgia-Carolina Council of the Boy Scouts of America. He was also an active member of the William Few Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution and attended Lutheran Church of the Resurrection.
He will be laid to rest at Oak Grove Cemetery on May 16, 2026. A visitation will be held at 1pm followed by a Memorial service at 2 pm on June 6, 2026, at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, 825 Greene Street, Augusta, Georgia 30901. A reception will immediately follow the service.
