John Layton Tyner, III, 68, of Brunswick, passed away Saturday, November 17, 2012 at his residence. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 20, 2012 in the Chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home at 12 PM with Rev. Earl Parrish officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Bonaventure Cemetery in Savannah, Georgia at 3:30 PM. Pallbearers include Neal Davis, Ronnie OLeary, David OLeary, Will OLeary, Bruce Wood and DeVon Smith. Honorary Pallbearers include: Dr. Mark Watkins, Dr. Steven Chitty, and Dr. Ahmed ElSharkawi, Dr. Shenon Badre and Dr. William C. OLeary, Jr.
Mr. Tyner was born December 2, 1943 to the late John Layton, Jr. and Virginia Burke Tyner in Millen, Georgia. He served as a United States Marine during the Vietnam War. John loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing. He was a member of Church of Christ in West Point, MS.
Along with his parents he is preceded in death by a sister: Nancy Ilene Tyner.
He is survived by his wife: Juan Smith Tyner of Brunswick; a daughter: Tina Tyner Gates (Alan) of West Point, MS; a son: John Layton Tyner, IV (Angela); a sister: Bonnie Jan Tyner OLeary (Bill) of Augusta, GA; three grandchildren: Jacklyn “Jackie” Elizabeth Gates, John Layton Tyner, V “Layton” and Carrie Elizabeth Bacon; he is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
