Jorge was born on March 24, 1972, in Río Piedras, Puerto Rico. Raised in Bayamón and affectionately known by his family as “Nuni,” he attended Rexille Superior and graduated with the Class of 1989.
Jorge dedicated much of his life to public service, including ten years of service in the United States Navy and twenty-four years as a Law Enforcement Officer. Throughout his life, he was known for his discipline, strong work ethic, dependability, and commitment to doing things the right way. Jorge was a man who led by example and encouraged those around him to give their best.
Above all, Jorge will be remembered for the way he lived: with integrity, responsibility, generosity, and deep devotion to his family.
Jorge is survived by his beloved wife, Elaine Méndez; his children, Walaine Hernandez and Waldemar “Wallo” Meléndez; his granddaughter, Adlaine Hernandez; and family members.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ramón “Moncho” Mendez, in March 2026.
