Joe was a graduate of Glynn Academy and was a lifelong resident of Brunswick. After graduation, he enlisted in the US Army where he served as a medic for two years. After enlistment, he went to work at Bellsouth where he worked as a Digital Technician for over 35 years.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Sadie (Mobley) Vasquez; two brothers, Richard Vasquez and his wife, Freda and Wiley Vasquez; a sister, Barbara Gardner; half-sister, Laura Bell Harris and a half-brother, Billy Harris.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Ellen Moyers Vasquez; a son, Mark Vasquez and his wife, Jodi; a daughter Talaxe and her husband, Col. (ret) Glen Lawson; two grandchildren, Gabriel Lawson and Savannah Maria Lawson; two brothers, Paul Vasquez, Jr. and his wife, Sissy and Robert Vasquez and his wife, Linda; two sisters, Ouida Hope and Rosa Bullard; a sister-in-law, Erika Vasquez; a brother-in-law Dick Gardner and many nieces and nephews.
A small family service will be held graveside on Monday, March 21 at 11:00 am at Brunswick Memorial Park Cemetery with Pastor Bill Ligon officiating.
