Joyce was born in Fernandina Beach, Florida, and graduated from Fernandina Beach High School in 1957. She continued her education at Perry Business School, graduating in 1958. In 1959, she married the love of her life, Charles Breland, beginning a devoted marriage that spanned decades.
Joyce was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church and loved her church family dearly. She enjoyed listening to music and singing, and she especially loved cooking for those she loved. She was well known for her delicious spaghetti, pepper steak, and macaroni and cheese. Above all, Joyce cherished time spent with her family, particularly her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Elizabeth Knight, and three brothers, Ernest, Kenneth, and Dannis Knight.
She is survived by her two children, Charla Taylor (Joe) and David Breland; two sisters, Janice Clark (Leonard) and Cathy Elliott (Jimmy); four grandchildren, Kim Dixon (Emma), Josh Hicks (Ashley), Amanda Durrence (Brian), and John Breland; and six great-grandchildren, Abigail, Jasper, Vincent, Ellis, Charlie, and Dana.
Visitation will be held Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11:00 am in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Ron Stinson officiating. Burial will follow in Palmetto Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jennifer Barbari, John Breland, Emma Dixon, Kim Dixon, Amanda Durrence, and Brian Durrence.
