To the family of Karen Stevens:
I was blessed to initially meet Karen  years ago through the school system ...I could write a book about the impact her life had on my own…Simple said, she  was a witness to me, and to this world, of the divine love of God…Assuredly, she is now in heaven and her intercessory prayers for us all are effective.
May the Lord comfort and strengthen you now...and always.

Dear Keith,Nick,and Ryan,
Please accept my sincere sympathy on the passing of your dear mother. I am thinking of each of you during this difficult time.

Your mother was such a kind, generous, and creative lady and friend to so many.  I have such fond memories of her working in your kindergarten classrooms  with me and giving so much valuable time and helping  with so many  activities. I remember her sweet smile and positive attitude.
I am so happy she decided to pursue her educational goals and continue to work with young children. I am sure she was an inspiration to the many children she worked with. I certainly admired and appreciated her!

Please know that I will continue to pray and think of you and your families. I know your mother loved all of you and I bet she especially adored her grandchildren!

To Keith, Nick and Ryan, I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Karen. She was such a loving and caring person. We always called ourselves 'namesake'. My fondest memory of Karen is when we, as Para's in the Glynn County School System, would get together and have our Christmas party. She was always comical when it came to the gift exchange. There are many vivid memories which I won't forget,because we were co- workers for many, many years. Keith I still have the letter you wrote to me when you were in the  3rd grade. Please know that you all are in my thoughts and prayers and I wish you much comfort, peace and many happy memories of your mom to get you through this difficult time. I have so many beautiful memories of my friendship with Karen. We met in 1995 at Oglethorpe Point elementary school. We started off as "work friends". She was my "sound person" for plays and talent shows; I was the music teacher. Our friendship blossomed into so much more. 
Karen was so gifted,  intelligent and talented. She ran the computer lab when very few of us had any idea how to even turn on a computer. Along with all the children at OPE , she taught my oldest three, Maria, Michael and Megan how to use the computer, a skill that has obviously proved to be a lifelong investment for them . She also taught me and all the teachers both in our school and through-out the district. In later years she taught my elderly mom how to use a personal computer. And most recently, about three years ago she tutored my youngest son, Marcus in Language Arts while he was taking a college course in high school. She was an awesome teacher! 
Her legacy lives on in the lives of many children, who she taught and poured her life into through out the years. She worked with her boys and with the boy scouts for many years she was also a Sunday school teacher at St. Francis Xavier, her beloved church.
I have memories of hanging out at her house with her and Chris, her husband and of talking  for hours on the phone. We worked together on all types of projects for school. She was definitely my "home girl";we both grew up in Long Island.
Karen was a warrior. Between a horrific car accident, cancer and other health challenges, Karen refused to give up. She fought till the end. 
The last time I physically saw Karen was on her birthday February 14th. I went to bring her a gift and she ended up giving me a beautiful bracelet with my initial and an ornament of an angel.
Karen was a kind gentle soul and I will always cherish some of her last words to me. She texted me shortly before going on the ventilator and told me that she knew they were doing all they could to save her and that she loved me. 

Karen was an outstanding teacher, friend, and colleague.  So bright and hard working!  She impacted countless students over the years that she taught at Oglethorpe Point and beyond. Rest In Peace, dear soul.
