Katharina Vogt Osta

Katharina Vogt Osta, 46, passed from this life on September 27, 2023, in Atlanta, GA. Her surviving family includes her mother, Maria A. Johnston; husband, Omar N. Osta; daughter, Jada Strickland and son, Braxton Osta; brother Christoph Vogt (Lisa); mother-in-law, Jan Osta; brother-in-law, Ismael Osta and sister-in-law, Johayna Osta. She was preceded in death by her father, Christian Vogt and father-in-law, Salim Osta.

Kathy was born in Poland on September 12, 1977, and moved with her family at the age of 7 from Berlin, Germany, to St. Simons Island in 1984. She graduated from Glynn Academy in 1996.

She attended The University of Georgia and continued her education at Jones College to complete a CNA certification. She worked locally as a CNA and subsequently assisted her mother at “Katharina’s,” a mastectomy boutique in Brunswick, GA. Kathy was certified as a mastectomy fitter.

Outgoing and friendly, she welcomed new connections and was always ready with a smile when help was needed. Her family and friends will miss that smile and her loving personality. Her mother says she never met a stranger.

A memorial service is scheduled for Friday, October 6, 11:00 am, in the chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. The Rev. Wright Culpepper will serve as officiant. A reception will follow at Edo Miller.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may sent to a charity of the donor’s choice.
