

Keith is preceded in death by his parents, Elizabeth “Jane” Taylor and Kenneth Onsted and daughter, Stephanie Durden. He is survived by his wife, Gail Benavides Onsted, daughters, Erin Neesmith (Thomas) and Jennifer Gomez (Miguel) and brother, Jeff Onsted (Marcine).
Keith was affectionately known as “Papa” to his six surviving grandchildren, Asa and Amelia Gomez, Abby and Brady Neesmith, Katie Durden McDonald and Tyler Durden.
Keith was a graduate of Northside High School in Warner Robins, GA where he participated in football and golf. He found his passion for golf and attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College on a golf scholarship.
He began his career at Anchor Glass Container Corporation where he trained to be an electrician and retired from Georgia Power as a Senior Protection and Control Technician.
Keith developed a passion for community service and brotherhood. He joined the Fraternity of Freemasons at Houston Lodge #35 in Perry, GA where he was a perpetual member. He was an ambassador to the Masonic Children’s Home in Macon, GA where he contributed to enhancing and improving the facility and grounds for the betterment of the children. In light of his dedication and service, Keith received the Mason of the Year award in 2007. In 2009, he was elected to serve as Master of Houston Lodge #35. Keith further extended his service by becoming a York Rite Mason in Fort Valley, GA.
Keith was a member of Wesley Methodist Church on St. Simons Island where he enjoyed serving as an usher and participating in Sunday school.
Keith loved to golf, fish, ride motorcycles and cheer on the Georgia Bulldogs. He was a remarkable husband, father and “papa” to all those who loved him. He exemplified leadership, service and generosity in all aspects of his life. Keith had a contagious sense of humor and zest for life. To know Keith was to love him. He will be deeply missed by all his family and friends.
There will be a celebration of life on December 6, 2024, at 11:00 at Wesley Methodist Church on St. Simons Island for all those who wish to honor Keith’s life and legacy.
