Lawrence " Larry" Edward Brumit, JR.

Lawrence “Larry” Edward Brumit, JR, 88, of Blythe Island, GA passed away Friday, December 9, 2016 at Southeast Georgia Health Systems Brunswick. A native of Bristol, VA, Larry had been a resident of Glynn County since 1948. Born April 4, 1928, he was the son of the late Lawrence Brumit, SR and the late Callie White Brumit. Larry was a graduate of Virginia High School in Bristol, VA. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy. Larry was co-owner of Roger Jewelers and Brumits Luggage; he was also a private pilot. Larry was a member of the Ocean Lodge #214 F&AM and he was also a member of St. Marks Episcopal Church. He enjoyed fishing, goldmining, gardening and spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his son David Morel Brumit, his granddaughter Callie Beth Brumit, and brother James D. Brumit, Sr.

Survivors include his wife Fe’ Smith Brumit of Blythe Island, GA; his sons Lawrence E. Brumit, III and his wife Leila of Blythe Island, GA, and Phillip Smith Brumit, SR and his wife Carla of Darien, GA; his daughter Laurie Brumit Prior and her husband Charles of Fort Worth, TX; his grandchildren Mary Louise Brumit Tabish and her husband Alex of Winston Salem, NC, Lawrence “ Buddy” E. Brumit, IV of Ft. Walton Beach, FL, Brook Warren and her husband Luke of Yuma AZ, Phillip “P.J.” Brumit, JR and wife Eliza of Tuson, AZ., Tyler Brumit of Evans GA, and Ashley Brumit of Dallas, TX; several great – grandchildren, and several other relatives.

The graveside service with military honors, and masonic rites, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Palmetto Cemetery in Brunswick with the Rev. Alan Akridge officiating, with Interment to follow the service.
