Leo was born in Bay De Noc Township, Michigan on July 20, 1934 the son of the late John Henry Fallstrom and the late Eva Fallstrom. He was a graduate of Rapid River High School. He then graduated from Michigan Technological University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering. He also served his country honorably in The United States Army. Leo was a Chemical Engineer with Hecules, presently known as Pinova Inc. He retired with Hercules after thirty-eight years of loyal service.
Leo was an enthusiastic ballroom dancer and served for several years as Vice President of the Shoreline Dance Club. Leo also had a love for music and sang for thirty years in the Messiah Chorus. He was always willing to help his community and served for ten years as a volunteer at Southeast Georgia Health Systems.
Leo was also preceded in death by his first wife, Jimmie Lee Fallstrom; seven siblings, Aileen Salmio, Oiva Fallstrom, Siiri Hansen, Elvi Loy, Rauni Walters, Miriam Nicholson, and Oliver Fallstrom. Left to cherish Leo’s memories are his devoted wife, Rosemary Fallstrom, his children, Matthew Fallstrom (Carrie) and Kathryn Shelton (Kelly); also two stepsons, Joseph Schroer (Melissa) and Robert Schroer; seven wonderful grandchildren, Jimmy, Josie, Roier, Paul, Lila, Anthony, and Matthew; one sister, Ruth Itzov (Andy). Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Leo was a loving, caring, and compassionate man. He was also a strong man of his faith and a member of Lord of Life Lutheran Church. He was also a member and attended Saint Williams Catholic Church for the last two years. He always loved to spend time with his family and friends. Leo also loved to travel and cruised to all continents. Leo will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. His family will have many fond memories to cherish for years to come.
The family will receive friends between 5:00 – 7:00 PM Sunday, July 8, 2018 at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. A Funeral Service to honor Leo’s life will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, July 9, 2018 in the Chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Deacon Greg Smilski officiating. Burial will follow the service in Oglethorpe Memorial Garden Cemetery.
