On the evening of Tuesday, March 23, 2021, Linda Kay Walton went to be with our Lord. Born in Olean, NY, she was raised in Mount Holly, NJ. She was a 1965 graduate of Rancocas Valley Regional High School. On December 26, 1969 she was wed to Mort Shepard Walton, Sr. The couple moved from New Jersey to Brunswick, GA in the early 1970’s. Surviving her husband of 16 years, she would live there until her retirement in 2004. After retirement, she moved to Hortense, GA and would reside there until her passing.
Her early working years were spent as a pharmaceutical assistant followed by many years in retail operations and management. She enjoyed spending time with her family and her Italian Greyhounds, Becca, Isabella and Odie. She was a member of Waynesville Missionary Baptist Church in Waynesville, GA. Her legacy is her work ethic, determination, unending kindness and love for others.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Mort Shepard Walton, Sr., her brother, Michael “Skip” Vitco and her mother and father, Steven John Vitco, Jr. and Olga Caroline Vitco (Maiden name: Rapchick).
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Melody Walton Moore and Ronnie Lee Moore, Jr.; and her son David Thomas Walton; two step-children, Mort Shepard Walton, Jr. and his wife Emily Sarnoski and Mark Francis Walton; one granddaughter, Alexandria Walton Moore; one adopted granddaughter, Lelia Mekel Moore Ryle and her husband Joshua Brandon Ryle; two nieces, Onahlea C. Vitco Farrell and her husband John F. Farrell and Catherine Ann Vitco; and one nephew, Daniel S. Vitco and his wife Karen. Three great nieces and two great nephews also survive.
No services will be held at this time, as it was her wish to be cremated and that her ashes be spread in the Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York. A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date (TBD) to fulfill this wish.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made instead to the following organizations/outreach programs: The Food Pantry of Waynesville Missionary Baptist Church (waynesvillemissionarybaptistchurch.com or P.O. Box 160, Waynesville, GA 31566) or the Human Society of South Coastal Georgia (hsscga.com)
Helping others was a huge passion of Mrs. Walton and she enjoyed being a part of The Food Pantry’s ministry when she could. She also had a huge heart for animals. Your donations will help her passions live on.
Edo Miller and Sons is in charge of the arrangements. You may sign the register book and leave condolences for the family at www.edomillerandsons.com
