Lois Owens Franklin

Lois Owens Franklin, 87, of Brunswick, GA passed away Tuesday October 2, 2012 at Sears Manor Nursing Home in Brunswick, GA. A funeral service will be conducted 10 AM Saturday 6th of October 2012 in the chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Associate Pastor of Glyndale Baptist Church Ben Campbell officiating. Interment will follow the service at Brunswick Memorial Park Cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers will be Bud Ellis, Ronnie Owens, Darrell Owens, Juno Owens, David Owens, and Phillip Rowell. Honorary pallbearers will be the Staff of Sears Manor Nursing Home and the Staff of Heartland Hospice.
Family will receive friends from 6 PM – 8 PM Friday 5th of October 2012 at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home.
Mrs. Franklin was a native of McIntosh County born January 12, 1925 to the late Edward R. and Sally A. Owens. She attended McIntosh County schools where she was a star tennis player during high school, and was an early graduate due to above average grades. Mrs. Franklin lived most of her adult life in Brunswick and worked in the Brunswick Shipyards as a welder during the World War II. She retired in the late seventies after working many years as a bookkeeper. She had been a faithful member for more than sixty-five years at Glyndale Baptist Church.
In addition to Mrs. Franklin’s parents she is preceded in death by her son Larry Stevenson Noble; husband Harold O. Dunn of Atlanta/ Brunswick: four brothers Claude Owens, Leo Owens, Coleman Owens, and Ludwig Owens; two sisters Carolyn Stokes and Marie Reynolds.
She is survived by her husband W.J. Franklin of Brunswick, GA; her daughter Dianne Noble Mallard and her husband F.D. (Buddy) Mallard of Brunswick, GA; two grandchildren Stacey Mallard Danner of Valdese, NC and Stevenson D. Mallard and his wife Lisa Mallard of Greensboro, NC; three Great Grandchildren Somer Danner, Joseph Danner, and Lana Danner all of Valdese, NC; three Great- Great Grandchildren Nathan Fortenberry, Riley Danner, and Paizley Danner all of Valdese, NC; a sister Louise Sapp of Hinesville, GA; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Family request in lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Mrs. Franklin’s honor may be made to Glyndale Baptist Church C/O Building Fund 132 Butler Drive Brunswick, GA 31523; Heartland Hospice 664 Scranton Road Unit 103 Brunswick, GA 31520 or to the charity of donor’s choice.
