Louis was born in Moultrie, Georgia on December 8, 1944 to the late Thomas C. Parry and Juanita Hazel Moore. After graduating from Moultrie High School, Louis joined the Army and served for three years. After the service he earned a degree in political science from Georgia State. Louis worked for the Georgia Department of Labor for 37 years. Early on in his career, he moved to Germany where he was on loan to the Bureau of International Labor Affairs counseling veterans on their rights and benefits when they returned home.
After retirement he became involved with the St. Simon’s Methodist Church where he attended bible studies and cooked Wednesday night suppers, but his passion was bringing the message of God’s love to prisoners through the Kairos Prison Ministries. He enjoyed boating, cooking, reading, the beach and mostly his beloved dogs.
Louis is preceded in death by his brother: Thomas C. Parry, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 29 years: Joyce Peters Parry; his daughter: Tiffany Ann Kelly (Stephen); his grandsons: William Christopher Kelly, Aidan Connell Kelly and Charles Colin Kelly; his wife’s daughter: Michele Bryan and her children Cassidy Fay Murphy and Katherine Grace Murphy; nephews: Tom Parry (Betty) and Dr. Wilson Parry (Lauren) and a niece: Wilma VanLandingham (Paul).
The family would like to thank the Hospice of the Golden Isles for their compassion and care during his last days. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kairos Prison Ministries of Georgia (www.kairosofgeorgia.org/donatenow.html or mailed to William Dixon/Georgia State Treasurer, Kairos Prison Ministry International, Inc., 3301 Westgate Drive, Albany, Georgia 31721.)
