Luther Edison Wright

Luther E. Wright, 93, died Wednesday AM June 27, 2012 at St. Marks Towers in Brunswick, Georgia.

He was born in Warwick County, Virginia on June 1, 1919, the son of Luther G. Wright and Ruby Davis Wright. Lew was a true representative of the “Greatest Generation”. He attended William and Mary College in Williamsburg, Virginia and served in the U.S. Army Air Corp throughout World War II. He was a long time resident of Atlanta, where he was with General Electric and later was President and Owner of Lew Wright and Associates, an aerospace equipment organization in Huntsville, Alabama. In 1993 he retired and moved to St. Simons Island, Ga., where he has been an active member of Christ Episcopal Church.

Mr. Wright was preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly Wright Nemanic, his parents, Luther and Ruby Wright, a brother, Russell Wright and a sister, Edith Wright Miller.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Ruth Wright, a son and daughter-in-law, Don and Joy Wright of St. Simons Island, 4 grandchildren, 2, great grandchildren and several beloved nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Life service will be held at 2 PM Monday July 2, 2012 in the Christ Church, Frederica with Father Stephen McWhorter officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Christ Churchyard.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of the Golden Isles, 1692 Glynco Parkway, Brunswick, Georgia.
