She was born in Balanga Bataan, Philippines on Sept 15, 1939, to the late Raphael and Felomena Villoso. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Robert Yawn, four brothers, Artemio, Rogelio, Ernesto, and Vergelio, one sister, Linda Villoso, and one stepson, Bruce Edward Yawn.
She is survived by one sister, Violeta Villoso, 5 children, Margie Watts (Robert), Quincy Faircloth (Dana), Mattie Faircloth (Michael), Linda Yawn (McCoy), Kathy Walker (Tony), 13 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews in the Philippines.
Lucy was known as Lola (Grandmother) by her family in the Philippines, with whom she communicated almost daily. She often sang to them in her native language, as she was fluent in many Filipino dialects, including Tagalog and Ilocano.
Cooking was one of her passions, and she enjoyed teaching her children and grandchildren native Filipino dishes. Pandesal bread, pancit, adobo and bitter melon were among the favorites. She told of the traditional cooking of the roasted pig often enjoyed by the family on “All Saints Day”, family birthdays and celebrations. She was also known for her ability to cook traditional Southern dishes, and holidays at Lucy’s house included the best of both worlds.
Lucy was very proud to be an American and proud of her American citizenship.
She was an avid gardener, often having her husband pull the truck over to the side of the road while she hurriedly dug up a new flower. Many of those plants continue to thrive in her garden today.
She considered herself a tomboy as a young girl and loved to run. She ran track for school and continued competing in races here in the USA.
Lucy was spunky, kind, loving, and in turn loved by many.
The visitation will be held at Edo Miller Funeral home, in Bwk, Ga. on Tuesday September 29, 2026, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
A celebration of Lucy’s life will be held at Cornerstone Community Church, Wednesday September 30, 2026, at 11:00 am followed by a graveside memorial at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Sterling, Ga. Pall bearers are Michael Scichilone, Tony Walker, Jax Scott, Joe Perry, Keith Paseur, Rusty Parsons.
