Mabry Carlton Ashby, best known as "Ash" to friends and family, passed away on 25 August, 2026, at the age of 61. Ash spent his life in service to his family, community, and country, devoting himself to each in turn.
Ash was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, and friend to many. He was known for being quick with a story or joke to raise the spirits of everyone around him, and never shied away from helping a friend in need. He served his community as a police officer and detective, being well respected by his colleagues and departments, and served his country by enlisting into the United States Army National Guard, deploying with the 121st Infantry Long Range Surveillance battalion in support of the Second Gulf War. He would spend an extended period of his life deployed to the Middle East, performing security operations to protect diplomats, U.S. cabinet members, and assisting in the protection of presidential packages visiting the region. He finally returned home to pursue his true joy in life of teaching others from his time and experience, spending the rest of his career as an educator and facilitator for the Federal Law Enforcement Center in Brunswick, Georgia. He will always be remembered through his stories, of which he had many, and the many lessons he passed down to others.
Ash was a loving husband of Tracy Ashby for 26 years, and a beloved son of Pixianne Beasley. He is survived by his sister, Lynn Doerr, and his two sons, Brendan Madden and Zane Ashby.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those blessed to have known him.
