Jerry moved to the Golden Isles in the 6th grade and graduated from Glynn Academy in the class of 1949. She attended Perry Business School and worked at Fireside Cottage and Gift Shop for 18 years, followed by more than 20 years at Final Touch Gift Shop. She was a devoted member of St. Simons First Baptist Church and was active in the Joy Sunday School Class. Jerry was known for her love of writing cards to family and friends and always being there to help others. Whether visiting friends at Magnolia Manor or lending a helping hand, Jerry was someone you could always count on. She never missed attending her grandchildren's sports and school events; Grandma was always there supporting her family. She cherished her travels to Switzerland and Italy, was a fan of the Atlanta Braves, and an avid Bingo player. Above all, Jerry deeply loved her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her two daughters, Margaret (and Mike Force) of Brunswick, and Debbie (and Bruce Bowman) of Franklin, TN; three granddaughters, Chele (and Jon Lyons) of St. Simons Island, Rachael (and Shawn Scott) of Franklin, TN, and Anna (and Jay Adair) of the US Virgin Islands; and a grandson, James E. Goodis II of Tampa, FL. She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren Shannon Silva of Darien, Nick Silva of St. Simons, and Lexi, Bennett, and Connor Floyd of Franklin, TN.
The family would like to thank all the staff at Magnolia Manor for taking such excellent care of her in her last few years. We will be forever grateful for you accepting her as your Gram too.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, June 17, 2024, at 10:00 am at Oglethorpe Memorial Gardens on St. Simons Island.
