A Celebration of Life will be held 3:00 p.m., Sunday, January 20, 2019 in the chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home, family to receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Margaret was born in Fitzgerald, GA on February 5, 1936 to Margaret & Bill Shoemaker and moved to Brunswick in 1941. She graduated from her beloved high school, Glynn Academy in 1954. She married her high school sweetheart, Emory in 1957. Survivors include her husband Emory Young, sons, Emory Young, Jr (Renee’) and Cliff Young (Tammy) all of Brunswick. Grandchildren: Chris Nazzrie, Brandi Nazzrie, Justin Nazzrie (Shawna), Ward McCarthy, Cody Young (Megan), Kady Young, Chevy Young & Will Young. Six great grandchildren: Liberty Margaret Ashley, Deven Mae Nazzrie, Emrie Anne Young, Ellie Layne Bryson, Jaxon Bowen Young and Everleigh Bryson. Special nephew, Randy Shoemaker (Jennifer) & daughter, Sydney. Many cousins, nieces & nephews. Margaret is also survived by step granddaughters, Lisa Nazzrie and April Green. She was predeceased by her daughters, Cathy and her husband John McCarthy & Susan and her husband Dub Nazzrie, brothers; Randy, Scott & Billy Shoemaker.
Margaret spent many hours enjoying her grandchildren and great grandchildren, playing “Games” & taking them to movies. She loved playing bridge with friends, belonging to the Bible Study Class “Love in Action” at First Baptist Church in Brunswick, knitting, reading, crafts. Most of all she loved being a member of the Glynn Academy Class of ’54. She was a member of the Glynn Academy Alumni Association. Serving on the board of The Brunswick Golden Isles Chamber of Commerce and a member of the American Business Women’s Association. She also served as secretary/treasurer for the Coastal Chapter of The Conditioned Air Association of Georgia.
In lieu of flowers a memorial contribution may be made to Hospice of the Golden Isles, 1692 Glynco Parkway Brunswick, GA 31525 or to the First Baptist Church, 708 Mansfield St. Brunswick, GA 31520.
