Marie C. Hand

Marie C Hand, 79, of Brunswick, passed away on Friday, December 23, 2011 at Hospice of the Golden Isles. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 27 at 11am at Bible Baptist Church, 500 Harry Driggers Boulevard in Brunswick, with Dr. Mike Landrum and Dr. Carl W. Warden officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday, December 26 from 7-9pm at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hand was born October 22, 1932 in Tifton, GA to the late Mary Elizabeth Johnson and the late Samuel Robert Clements. She had been a resident of Brunswick for 55 years. Mrs. Hand graduated from Tift County High school and was a retired accountant. She also was a member of the Woodbine Bible Baptist Church, where she served as the church secretary and as a pianist, a member of the White Shrine, the Order of the Eastern Star, and the Order of the Amaranth # 19.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hand was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Lee Hand, Sr., a son, Lonnie Hand, a sister, Lucille Drawdy, and three brothers, Wiley Clements, Easton Clements, and Elmer Clements.

Mrs. Hand is survived by two sons, Walter Lee Hand, Jr. (Cathy) of Taylorsville, KY and Larry G. Hand (Isabel) of Brunswick and a daughter, Lynnette “Lynn” Walker (Johnnie) also of Brunswick; Four grandsons, Michael Hand (Karen) of Indianapolis, IN, Wayne Hand and David Ruffin of Brunswick, and Daniel Walker (Leann) of Eulonia; Two granddaughters, Lori Bullard of Waynesville and Michelle Glenn (Paul) of Nicholasville, KY, two brothers, Gerald Clements of Alabama, Wayne Clements (Caryl) of Atlanta, and a sister, Reba Crumley of Valdosta. She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Active pallbearers will be her two sons and four grandsons, and honorary pallbearers will be the RN’s, LPN’s, CNA’s, and staff of the memory unit at the Southeast Georgia Health System Senior Care Center.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions in Mrs. Hand’s honor be made to the Hospice of the Golden Isles, 1692 Glynco Parkway, Brunswick, GA, 31525 or to the Georgia Diabetes Research Foundation, 1211 Whispering Pines Rd, Albany, GA 31707.
