Marilyn Duckworth Jensen, the daughter of William and Marcella Duckworth, passed away October 1, 2018. Born in New Alexandria, Louisiana on January 30, 1949, Marilyn lived many places in her lifetime, spending the last decade in Jacksonville, Florida.
Marilyn was a graduate of Glynn Academy Class of '67. A truly unique character and free spirit, Marilyn went to Maggie Valley's to be a dancer in the Wild West Show right out of high school. She earned her Bachelor’s in English from the University of Georgia before setting off to travel through Europe. She later returned to earn her Master's degree at UGA and became a teacher. A passionate teacher of both English and Education, Marilyn was often at her very best in the classroom. She touched the lives of many students and was equally rewarded in return, eventually going on to earn her Doctorate in Education at the University of North Florida.
Marilyn loved all kinds of good food, good music, and good films, which lead her to settle down in New Orleans. It was here she was able to find herself and the father of the true love of her life, her daughter Rachel. She loved nothing quite as much as watching a favorite movie with her loyal companion, her cat Cleo, by her side.
Marilyn is survived by her daughter Rachel Jensen and her brother William Duckworth Jr.
A memorial service to honor Marilyn’s life will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, October 12, 2018 at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Darrell Joiner officiating. A visitation will follow the service in the Brunswick Room at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home.
In Lieu of Flowers, donations can be made to Hubbard House of Jacksonville, Florida.
