A native of Glennville, Georgia, Marilyn was a proud graduate of the 1959 class of Glennville High School. She later made Brunswick her home with her husband, where she built a life centered around her family, faith, and service to others.
Marilyn enjoyed a long career with the Glynn County School System, retiring as administrative assistant at Brunswick High School. Through the years, she became a familiar and caring presence to the students, faculty and staff whose lives crossed her path.
Marilyn’s faith was an important part of her life. She was an active member of Lakeside Methodist Church and Grace Place, where she sang in the choir and was involved with children’s church.
An avid reader, Marilyn found great peace in becoming immersed in a good book. She especially enjoyed mystery novels, historical fiction, and romance novels and could often be found happily lost in the pages of her latest read.
Above all, Marilyn cherished her family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, Lee Iverson “Sonny” Kicklighter Jr.; her son, Lee Iverson Kicklighter III; and her parents, Archie Bernice Barnhill and Winnie Mae Barnhill.
She is survived by her son, Jeffrey Alan Kicklighter (Amanda) of Waverly, Georgia; her daughter, Julie Ann Kicklighter of Miami, Florida; her grandsons, Mason Lee Kicklighter, of Tallahassee, Florida; and Corey Alan Kicklighter of Brunswick, Georgia; her sister, Gail Rogers; her brother, Ronnie Barnhill (Margaret); of Glennville, Georgia and other family members and friends who will cherish her memory.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 13, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home, 3321 Glynn Avenue, Brunswick, Georgia. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
