Marion was one of eight children born to Lester Nix and Mary Louise Allen Nix. She was a graduate of Glynn Academy and was employed as a housekeeping manager for Days Inn, both here and in St. Mary’s. In her younger years, she enjoyed traveling and playing Bunko. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church then Northside Baptist Church and finally Calvary Baptist Church. In her later years she and her sister, Jean, enjoyed doing arts and crafts at the Senior center and playing bingo at the Elks Lodge, the American Legion and Knights of Columbus. Marion loved to cook and care for seniors in her community. She even baked pecan pies to give to her doctors, church members and the elderly. She will be missed.
In addition to her parents her husband, Arnold O. “Mike” Michels and five siblings, Elizabeth Knight, Johnny Nix, Granville Nix, Buddy Nix and Mary Turner, preceded her in death.
