Marge (as she preferred to be called) was born in Chicago, Illinois, in 1933. She had a brilliant career as a chemist, retiring when she moved to St. Simons Island, Georgia, with her husband of thirty -six years, Ray Peters, who preceded her in death.
Marge and Ray had an active and happy marriage. They enjoyed skiing, camping, and rooting for the Atlanta Braves. They were both avid bridge players, and traveled around the country to play in various bridge tournaments. Both achieved the level of Grand Master, and were extremely proud of this accomplishment. In Marge's later years she continued to love the game of bridge but added a wicked game of Scrabble to the mix!
Marge was dedicated to several philanthropic causes and was steadfastly true to her political and moral beliefs. She was extremely generous with her time and resources to those organizations that shared these tenets.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Oglethorpe Memorial Gardens, 5775 Frederica Road, St. Simons, Georgia. Edo Miller and Sons, Brunswick, Georgia, have been entrusted with the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, or other offerings, contributions can be made to the Coastal Cat Clinic, 260 Redfern Village, St. Simons, Georgia. Both Marge, and her devoted cat , Alex, would be extremely grateful!
