Mary Elizabeth Barney (Ross) was born on July 11, 1958, in Littleton, Colorado to John Vincent Ross and Mary Elizabeth Ross. She graduated from Ledyard High School in 1976, where she won the prestigious "Unsung Hero" Award. She married her husband David Jonathan Barney, of Brunswick, GA, on December 5, 1979, in Washington, D.C., in the Latter-day Saint Temple. She is the mother to Ashley Elizabeth Ensign (Barney), of Aurora, CO, Katherina Marie Barney, of Brunswick, GA, and Robert Mason Barney, of Moncks Corner, SC.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and beloved member of the LDS faith. Her devotation to genealogy created a family lineage back through many generations.
She died July 13, 2026, in Brunswick, GA. She is survived by her husband, children, grandchildren, her sister Pamela Ann Ross of Guildford, CT, and nephew Gregory Allan Ross of Brunswick, GA.
Her Memorial Service is Saturday July 18, 2026, at the Darien LDS Church located at 500 McIntosh Rd. Darien, GA, at 10am.
