

Mary Jean Campbell, 73, of Brunswick, died Sunday, February 22, 2015 at Hospice of The Golden Isles. Funeral services will be held at 11AM Friday, February 27, 2015 in the chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Pastors Kevin and Donna Drury and Jane Brunegraff officiating. Interment will follow at the Brunswick Memorial Park Cemetery.
Born December 4, 1941 in Fulton County, Georgia to the late John J. and Mary Kate M. Campbell, she was a graduate of Wesleyan College and a former English teacher, architect, and homemaker. Mrs. Campbell had been a resident of Glynn County since 1971, and was a member of Bethel Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Richard M. Fix.
Survivors include daughter, Kathryn Kimball and husband John of Oviedo, FL, three grandchildren, Lauren, Josiah, and Anna Jean, two brothers, John Campbell and wife Dottie, of Cumming, GA, and Andrew Campbell and wife Faith, of Elgin, IL, and several nephews. Her family dearly loved her and was so blessed by her spirit of grace and wisdom. To her grandchildren, and many more children loved by her, she was known as “Mamie.”
Mary Jean Campbell, a beloved member of the Glynn County community, served in several capacities in the churches of which she was a part. She was a Sunday School teacher and Youth volunteer at First United Methodist, Christian Renewal Center and Bethel Church, as well as her home church, Owl Rock United Methodist in Atlanta. She served on the Mission Board of Christian Renewal Center and was hostess to several missionaries. She completed Billy Godwin’s School of Mighty in Spirit. She served on the Leadership Team of Bethel Church and was the Founder of the Sozo Ministry there. As a part of the church ministry, Richard and Jean also hosted a home group, The Gathering, for more than 20 years. She was a volunteer with the Glynn County Medical Auxillary, as well as Care Net. Mary Jean Campbell was also a talented musician and beautiful dancer and participated in the Dancing with the Stars 2007 YWCA Fundraiser on Jekyll Island.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening, February 26, 2015 from 5PM until 7 PM at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home.
