

She was born on October 3, 1932, in Atlanta, Georgia to Mary Hester Adams and John Burgess Adams Sr.
After graduating from Georgia State College for Women (GSCW), Mary Evelyn moved to Brunswick in 1956 where she taught Home Economics at Glynn Academy for 10 years.
In addition to her parents, Mary Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Clark Howell Cook Jr, two infant daughters, Angela Denise (1965), and Karen Mildred (1970); her sister, Eufala Brandenburg.
She is survived by her children, Kimberly Cook, of Rex, Georgia; and Katherine Cook Sapp, of St Simons Island; two grandchildren, Matthew Sapp, of Brunswick, Mary Katherine Yawn (Matt) of Hortense, and great-granddaughter, Harper Yawn; sister, Jane McKenzie (Fulton) of Marietta; brother, John B Adams (Debbie) of Lawrenceville, as well as several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hospice of the Golden Isles. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, May 2nd, at the St Simons United Methodist Church with a reception following the service.
