
She was born in Brunswick, Georgia and lived in Sebastian for 15 years coming from her hometown of Darien, Georgia.
She retired from the Savannah Presbytery after many years as office manager and was a devoted career Navy wife and volunteer. Mary Lou attended Christ the King Presbyterian, Vero Beach FL, and the First Presbyterian Church of Darien, Darien GA. Survivors include husband of 61 years, Robert Speed of Sebastian, daughter Lynn Speed Rogers (Mike) of Raleigh, North Carolina, son Michael Speed (Ronda) of Sumter, South Carolina, granddaughter Katie Speed, sisters Lorene Howard of Alamogordo, NM and Bobbie Mullis of Valdosta, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her sisters Doris Rabb and Dorothy Bailey and parents Robert Stafford and Ella Dixon Townsend. Mary Lou was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and was a Child of God.
