

Mauise Lane Copeland, age 88, of Brunswick, died Saturday, July 18, 2015 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Mauise was born in Browntown, Georgia to Earnest and Thelma Lane who preceded her in death. She married Sam Jones Copeland and began the wonderful adventure of raising a family. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a great-granddaughter, Christina Copeland.
Mauise was the matriarch of her family and will be remembered as a very loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed playing games with her grandchildren and found great pleasure in helping others. She had a “green thumb” and could grow and cook just about anything. Her cooking skills were superior and she was especially known for her small, moist biscuits that always had her knuckle indentions on top. Mauise was an avid fisherman, a sport she enjoyed with her entire family. She was also a member of Pine Haven Baptist Church where she played the tambourine and assisted with prayer chains.
She is survived by her children, Dot Barlow (Jack) of Brunswick and Jim Copeland (Marilyn) of Savannah; eight grandchildren, Jack Barlow, Jr. and Jeff Barlow (Brenda) of Brunswick, Amy Randolph (Bevon) of Eureka Springs, Arkansas and Patricia Glover (Stephen), Allen Copeland, Jr., Steven Copeland, Alliyah Copeland and Thomas Copeland, all of Savannah; six great-grandchildren, Eden Randolph of Eureka Springs and David Copeland, Kaleb Copeland, Jeffrey Copeland, Shelby Barlow and Madison Mauise Barlow, all of Brunswick.
Visitation will be held Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Tuesday at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Reverend Tommy Gill and Reverend Chuck Morgan officiating. Active pallbearers will be the youth of Pine
Haven Baptist Church and Dr. Michael Pinell will be the honorary pallbearer. Burial will follow in Brunswick Memorial Park Cemetery.
