His wife, the much-beloved Pat, a source of inspiration and solace throughout his life, has been especially indispensable this past year navigating the challenges of a well-lived life coming to a close. Mike, a native New Yorker, an alum of Brooklyn Prep, Haverford College, Cornell Medical School and Captain in the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base was a Urologist in private practice at hospitals in Princeton, Trenton, North Caldwell and Mercer County, New Jersey—as well as President of The Mercer County Medical Society. In recent years, Mike served as a proud member on The Board of Hospice of The Golden Isles and The Board of Sea Island Property Owners Association. He was a communicant and loyal parishioner of St. Williams Catholic Church.
An avid athlete always, he was a one-time Central Jersey Squash Champion and played in the Lapin International Cup representing the U.S. in Canada. Mike was also a great tennis enthusiast who later in life traded his racket for a paint brush and easel—much to his own surprise. But to paint a picture of Mike, with words, or perhaps, just one word, that word might be: Joy.
He had a special joy in his heart for his wife, Pat, his children: Patrick, Michael, Maryallys, Juliet, and his long-departed infant son Christopher; his in-laws: Dr. Stephan Finical, Leanne Heeg and grandchildren: Ally and Paul Finical, Lizzie and Thomas Heeg; and his siblings: Warren and Casey Heeg, and Carolyn O’Neill.
He is now reunited with his beloved parents: Allys and Warren Heeg. For all who knew Mike, his gracious presence, his appreciative mind, his kind heart, will be missed beyond words.
As much as his ship sails away, the people on one side, say: "There he goes";
the people on the other side, they say, "Here he comes."
