

Michael Steven Stinson, 62, of Waverly, Georgia, passed away on November 3, 2012. A Celebration of Life/Memorial Service will be held on November 8, 2012, at 11:00 AM in the Chapel at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Reverend Ron Scarboro officiating. A reception will immediately follow in the Brunswick/McIntosh room at the funeral home.
Mike was born June 2, 1950 in Macon, Georgia, to Dorothy Wilson and the late Henry Pete Stinson. Mike graduated from Glynn Academy in 1968 and attended Brunswick Junior College. Although Mike worked extensively overseas, he considered Brunswick to be his home. He was of Baptist faith. Mike was employed by the US State Department where he worked in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Manila, Philippines, and most recently in Cairo, Egypt. He loved to travel and enjoyed many adventures all over the world. Mike had a love of life which was unparalleled and never met a stranger. His numerous friends from all over the world loved him and will miss him dearly. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and had many tales of these adventures. Mike loved his family deeply, especially his wife of 31 years, Yulanda.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, Pete, a sister, Kay Thigpen, and a brother, Ronnie Stinson.
He is survived by his wife, Yulanda, his daughter, Tyla Smith and her husband Steve of the USMC, a granddaughter, Elysia Smith, and a grandson, Orion Smith, all of Hawaii; his mother, Dorothy, and two sisters, Carol Middleton and Theresa Hellin, all of Brunswick.
The family will receive friends Thursday at 10:00 AM, November 8, 2012, before the memorial service at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home.
