
Michael Sheldon Teal, 59, of Key West, Florida, died Tuesday, the 15th of October, 2013, at Hospice of The Golden Isles. Michael was born in Tonawanda, New York on the 19th day of May, 1954, to Charles Teal and Wanda Crane Teal.
He has resided and been known in the Brunswick-St. Simons Island area most of his life. He and his wife, Rina John, were presently living in Key West, Florida, prior to his death. Michael was known and will be remembered as the owner of Kentucky Fried Chicken on St. Simons Island, where he ran a successful business for twenty-two years. He also owned Murphy’s Tavern for ten years and Island Rock Café for several years. He enjoyed golfing, traveling, games of chance, the beach, and spending time with his family and friends. Michael attended Christian Renewal Church on St. Simons Island.
Michael was preceded in death by his biological mother Wanda Crane Teal and by his previous wife, Joyce Teal.
Survivors are his wife Rina John of Key West, Florida; his parents, Charles Teal and Arlene Teal; son, James Teal of Raleigh, NC; daughter, Tammy Teal of Brunswick; daughter, Michelle Farley (John) of Brunswick; son, Nathan Mobley (Misty) of Brunswick; son, Jonathan Mobley of Brunswick; grandchildren, Michael James Smith, Jr., Miles Lee Smith, Kierstin Lee Teal, Malori Mobley, Marisa Mobley and Ashton Mobley; and his best friend Tamone his kitty.
Family will receive friends for a Celebration of Life Memorial Service to commemorate the life of Michael Sheldon Teal, Sunday, the 20th day of October, 2013, at 5 PM at Neptune Park on St. Simons Island.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of The Golden Isles, 1692 Glynco Parkway, Brunswick, GA 31525.
