She was born and raised in Georgetown, SC then later on moved to Atlanta where she met her husband Frederick Hoyt Mappin while attending Georgia Tech.
She was a resident of St. Simons Island for many years and a member of Christ Church Frederica, where she served on the vestry. She was also a member and treasurer of The Garden Club on St. Simons Island.
She retired as the bookkeeper of the Hutto and Palmatary law firm after many years and continued to work part time for the firm in her later years.
Miriam loved the island and made many friends.
She is survived by her two sons, Dr. Greg Mappin of Greenwood, SC and Rhett Mappin of St. Simons Island; grandchildren Joseph, John, Georgia and Jennifer Mappin; two sisters Frances Croslyn and Holly Wadsworth.
She will be fondly remembered for her love and devotion to her family and friends and unwavering strong will.
Miriam will be interred alongside her husband at the Georgia National Cemetery Canton at a future date.
