Nora E Hodges

Nora E. Hodges, 95, of Brunswick departed this life Friday, July 10, 2015 at SGHS. Funeral services will be held at 10AM today, Monday, July 13, 2015 at Pine Ridge Baptist Church with interment in Evergreen Cemetery. Charles Ricks, Daniel Ricks, Michael Wylder, Christian Wylder, Clayton Cowman, CJ Cowman, John C. Bennett, Johnathan Bennett, Joe Cannon, Christopher Cannon, Joey Cannon and David J. Gardner will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Dorcas Sunday School, Edwin Minchew, Michael Hodges, Keith Evans, Mike Evans, Dean Evans, Jerry Evans and Richard Evans.

Born February 29, 1920 in Ware County, Georgia to the late Walter and Mattie H. Evans, she was a homemaker and had been a resident of Glynn County since 1939. Mrs. Hodges was a member of Pine Ridge Baptist Church and Dorcas Sunday School. She was a fantastic cook who enjoyed feeding her family and friends. She loved to garden and was an amazing seamstress. She was a very devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James C. Hodges and a daughter Gayle Bennett and two brothers, J.F. Evans & Walter Evans and a step-brother, William Underwood.

Survivors include two daughters Glenda Whorton of Brunswick and Jerrie Ricks and husband Granger of McDonough, a son-in-law, John Bennett of Burlington, VT, grandchildren, Maria Cowman and husband Clayton, Shari Cannon and husband Joe, John C. Bennett, Michael Ricks and wife Betsy, Charles Ricks and wife Sheila, and Kathryn Wylder and husband Michael, and great grandchildren, Joey & Christopher Cannon, Johnathan Bennett, Lindsay Brooke Shead Gardner (David), Mac & Jack Ricks, Daniel & Olivia Ricks, Elyza, Christian & Anna Layne Wylder, her bonus grandchildren CJ Cowman and Ashley Holmes (Brewer), two sister-in-laws, Louise Evans and Aline Evans of Brunswick, and many nieces and nephews and cousins.
