Patricia “Pat” Greene Miller passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, March 20, 2015. She was 84 years young. Pat was born on July 19, 1930, in Charlotte, North Carolina, and was the daughter of the late DeWitt “Dick” Talmadge Greene, Sr. and Grace “Jack” Greene. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother DeWitt “Dickie” Talmadge Greene, Jr. and her husband of 66 years Robert “Bob” W. Miller, Sr.
Pat spent much of her childhood traveling throughout the southeast with her family. At the age of 14 Pat arrived in Brunswick, Georgia where she attended Glynn Academy High School. She remained a resident of Brunswick for the rest of her life. In one way or another Pat was always involved in the rearing and nurturing of children. She was active in the nursery school of the First Presbyterian Church where she was member for 70 years. Pat and her husband provided a loving and nurturing environment for many children throughout the years. Several of those children, notably Bart Altman, Brian Harrison, Chip Strickland, and Kareen Flournoy Bollingham have grown up and remained lifelong friends of the family. Pat was greatly loved and admired and will be missed by all who knew her. Practicing random acts of kindness was a way of life for her. Pat had many interests including knitting, crocheting, ceramics, gardening, music, and dancing, but most of all, spending quality time with her dear family.
She is survived by two daughters, Lynette Rivers of Peachtree City, Georgia, Dicky Lipthratt (Charlie), and a son, Robert “Bobby” W. Miller, Jr. all of Brunswick, one grandson, (the apple of her eye) Brian Rivers (Anna), and two great-granddaughters, Sara and Abby of Fayetteville, Georgia. She is also survived by her beloved pet cats, Kit and Tip.
There will be a memorial service on Wednesday, March 25, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 1105 Union Street, Brunswick, Georgia with Pastors Sam Henderson, Chip Strickland, and Jimmy Crandall officiating. Special words of remembrance will be shared by Bart Altman.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, the First Presbyterian Church, or the charity of your choice.
