

Paul was born January 6, 1954, in Atlanta, Georgia, the son of the late Hoyt William Turner and the late Bobbie Turner. He was also the devoted husband to the late Marcia Leigh Turner. They were blessed to have two wonderful children. Paul had resided on the island for the past twenty-four years and was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church at Frederica. He was a pioneer in the state of Georgia’s Paramedics Profession, being one of the first certified Paramedics and leading the way for others to follow. He was a true hero and public servant that was always willing to help his fellow man. Paul was also a retired Deputy Chief with the DeKalb Firefighters. He was a member of the Firefighters Association of America.
Paul is survived by his son, John Gregory Turner and his wife Bonnie Killian Turner of Saint Simons Island, GA; his precious daughter, Sarah Turner Blackstock and her husband Justin Peter Blackstock of Atlanta, GA; his darling granddaughter, India Pearl Turner; two wonderful grandsons, Renick Killian Turner and Connor Paul Blackstock.
Paul enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was a sports enthusiast. He was also an avid Atlanta Falcons and Georgia Bulldog fan. Paul will be missed by all who knew and loved him. His family will have many fond memories to cherish for years to come.
You are cordially invited to attend a Celebration of Life Service to honor his life at 3:00 PM on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at Wesley United Methodist Church at Frederica on Saint Simons Island. Reverend Steve Patton and Reverend Wright Culpepper will officiate the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Humane Society of South Coastal Georgia in Paul’s name.
