Peggy Attaway, a resident of Sea Island, Georgia, passed away Monday, August 19, 2013 after an extended illness. Born and raised in Mississippi, Peggy moved to Atlanta, Georgia where she was employed with Delta Airlines. Peggy married Atlanta native and Georgia Tech graduate Julian Joseph Attaway. Peggy and Julian were one of the original newlywed couples in the Fellowship Class at Grace United Methodist Church. Peggy spent many hours in prayer, Bible study, as well as teaching Sunday School. She was a member of St. Simons Presbyterian Church. Peggy was a lifetime member of the Gourmet Lunch Club of North Atlanta, a longtime member of the Dogwood Chapter of the Embroiders Guild of America, and an avid needle worker. Exquisite needlework stockings made for her grandchildren hang over fireplaces every Christmas.
Peggy is survived by her four children, Michael, Paul, Faith, and Mark; daughter in laws, Jennifer, Lyn, and Leslie; son in law Greg Bradberry; and by her grandchildren, Langdon, Meredith, Jillian, Sarah, Clarke, Hannah, Luke, Pete, Kaley, and Ryan.
In addition to Mrs. Attaway’s parents she is preceded in death by her husband Julian Joseph Attaway.
Funeral service will be held 2 PM Thursday the 22nd of August 2013 at the St. Simons Island Presbyterian Church, 205 Kings Way St. St. Simons Island, GA with Reverend Bob Brearly officiating, with a reception following the service.
Committal service 2 PM Saturday the 24th of August 2013 at Arlington Memorial Park, 201 Mt. Vernon Hwy. Sandy Springs, GA.
