

G. Perry Jones passed away Jan. 30, 2011. He was born in Canton on Nov. 27, 1931. He served in the Navy during the Korean War on the USS The Sullivans and circumnavigated the globe on that ship. After the Navy, he worked at his family’s textile business in Canton until 1969. He then moved to Jekyll Island to join the State of Georgia Department of Natural Resources where he stayed until retirement. In 1972, he married Nancy Hiller. They lived on Jekyll Island and in Mattapoisett, Mass., for 38 wonderful years. They are members of St. Richard’s Episcopal Church on Jekyll Island.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy Hiller Jones; their five children, the Rev. Robert H. Malm (Leslie), Tina Malm Bryan, G. Perry Jones Jr. (Elizabeth), Pam Jones Abernethy and Kenneth A. Jones (Libby); 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Perry is remembered as a kind and loving family man who was loved by all who knew him.
There will be a memorial service at 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 6, at Faith Chapel, Jekyll Island.
The family will host a reception at the Jekyll Island Wharf immediately after the service.
Interment will be later in Marion, Mass.
