Perry was preceded in death by his parents, Perry H. Lane Jr. and Evelyn Hortense “Tensie” Lane; his brother, Gary Lane Sr.; and his beloved grandmother, Maude Evelyn “Granny” Johnson.
He will be forever loved and deeply missed by his wife of 57 years, Wanda Lane; his daughters, Beth (George) Muniz and Shannon Lane; his sister, Brenda (Jim) Joyner; several cousins, nieces, and nephews; two grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
Perry graduated from Glynn Academy in 1964 before proudly serving his country in the United States Navy from 1964 until 1967. During the Vietnam War, he served aboard the USS Kitty Hawk (CV-63).
Known for his fierce work ethic, Perry worked briefly at Hercules until the plant closed. He then spent the majority of his career operating the Number 4 machine at Georgia-Pacific before retiring. Never one to sit still, he later worked as a driver for Toyota, where he became affectionately known as “Mr. Perry.” He retired from Toyota in June 2024.
When he was not working, Perry loved life on the water. A true “river rat,” he grew up boating, fishing, and water skiing, and his love for boating and fishing remained with him throughout his life. He also enjoyed relaxing on the dock with a cold beer in hand. Perry was a devoted Atlanta Braves and Georgia Bulldogs fan who faithfully supported his teams through every season, even the lean years.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, in the chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home in Brunswick, Georgia.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to your favorite charity in Perry’s memory.
