Raymond Fredrick Gansereit

After a full life of love and laughter and with a Sinatra song in his heart, Raymond Fredrick Gansereit was embraced by his lifelong friend, Jesus Christ, on July 8, 2018. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Kathleen, and three sons, Matthew (Carlton), David, and Jonathan (Melissa). He is “Pops” to Parker, Macey, Henry, Anna Catherine, Everett, Will and Georgia. He is survived by his twin sister, Rosemary Thaler of Clifton, N.J. and a loving extended family. Raymond was born in Clifton, New Jersey on May 23rd, 1933 and attended Pope Pious High School and Fairleigh Dickinson University. Raymond served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Japan for two years. In 1964, he met and married his lifelong love and companion, Kathleen. In 1969, they were transferred to Atlanta, Georgia and joined Our Lady of Assumption Parish and the St. Vincent de Paul conference. Thus Raymond began his meaningful friendship with the priests of the Society of Mary and Marist High School. After a long career in industrial sales, Raymond founded R.F. Gansereit and Associates in 1987, becoming a successful small business owner. Raymond and Kathleen enjoyed travel together, especially to London, Paris and Ireland. An avid Yankee fan, Raymond also rooted for Baltimore and Atlanta teams, and The University of Georgia. He was active in The St. Vincent de Paul Society for over 40 years and the Night Shelter at Central Presbyterian Church. Raymond was an avid walker, regularly logging over 1000 miles a year. He will be always be remembered by his family and friends for his wit, jokes and joyful whistling. A celebration of Raymond’s life will be held at Saint William Catholic Church, 2300 Frederica Road; St. Simons Island at 10 am on Saturday, August 4, followed by inurnment at the Saint William’s Columbarium. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to The St. Vincent de Paul Society of the Our Lady of Assumption Conference; 1350 Hearst Drive; Brookhaven, Ga. 30319 or Hospice of Golden Isles, 1692 Glynco Parkway; Brunswick, Ga. 31525. Arrangements are entrusted into the care of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home
